Learner Description: This web-page is designed for upper elementary students to learn about and participate in sand dune restoration.
Did you know that Seabrook is one of few towns in New Hampshire where you can find sand dunes? These dunes are a valuable resource to our community. They help protect our town from storms and strong seas and provide habitats for many plants and animals. Over 141 plant species can be found in the dunes! We will be working with the UNH Sea Grant Foundation to help restore this important ecosystem. As we learn about this fragile ecosystem, you will be using your mobile device to enhance your learning experience. Remember to only use your mobile device for this assignment and only take pictures of the assigned work.

Before we head out for our sand dune restoration project at Hampton Beach State Park with our expert UNH Sea Grant Foundation team, we need to find out what sand dunes are and why they are so important to our ecosystem.
During the field trip, you will be planting dune grass to strengthen and restore the dunes around the Hampton Beach State Park area. You will also be helping the many fauna and flora survive in this fragile ecosystem while helping protect your community against storm surge.
